AutoCar have recently had the privilege of taking out some of today’s most advanced automotive technology and they decided to have a drag race, tarmac melting fun. Lining up the McLaren P1, Porsche 918 and Ducati 1199 Superleggera in an attempt to answer the question on everyone’s mind ‘Which of the new hypercars is the fastest?’, along with the eternal question ‘2 wheels or 4?’

One interesting point to take out of the hyper drag race is the fact that some of the current superbikes are very close to making the hyper category. With better than one to one power to weight ration they have many of the required numbers to make it, although most lack the top speed. Here at Highpants we go by the following hypercar formula; one to one power to weight ration, top speed over 400kph/250mph and sub 3 second 0-100kph times.
