Dyson Introduce the 360 Eye, Autonomous Cleaning Done the Dyson Way…

Dyson seems like the sort of man who won’t stop till a new invention is absolutely perfect, this week the English inventor and his company introduced the 360 Eye robotic vacuum cleaner after 16 years of development.

As with all of Dyson’s gear it is a masterpiece of design, for a humble dirt collecting gadget this is very clever stuff.

Highpants-Dyson-360-Eye-005Key to the 360 Eye’s design is the panoramic camera and infra red sensors that allow the vac to map the environment and plan its path. The vision system can even be used to monitor your vacs activities via the smartphone app, the apps also used for other mundane tasks such as controlling settings and schedules.

Aside from the normal Dyson centrifugal suction the 360 Eye also incorporates a full width brush bar to agitate carpets and brush hard surfaces, agitate he will.

Tank tracks help the little automatic cleaner go anywhere inside your household although many have commented that it’s too tall to vacuum under couches, I didn’t know that was a thing but it is apparently.

The lithium battery is good for 20 to 30 minutes of run time after which the 360 returns to its base to charge, Then it’s back to work, picking up where it left off.

Highpants-Dyson-360-Eye-003The Dyson is undoubtedly cool but the ultimate test for any robot vacuum is how well it operates as a flat surface for cats to travel on. There may be an issue here with the camera being covered by its feline passenger but no problem is insurmountable,

Dyson are launching the 360 Eye first in Japan early 2015, the price is unknown but rumors suggest $1,650 USD. The robot vacuum wars seem to be heating up but you can be sure iRobot and their Roomba won’t be caught standing still.
