F1 drivers spend their days behind the wheel of some of the world’s fastest four wheeled speed machines which has the unfortunate side effect of making other cars simply a form of transport. These not so easily impressed professional drivers are rarely thrilled by thrashing even the sportiest of sport cars. Ferrari however may have created an exception to this rule as Sebastian Vettel can attest. One spin around the track in the FXX K was enough to cause Vettel to utter the helmet muffled words ‘Mamma mia! It goes like a rocket.’
The FXX K is based on the sensational LeFarrari road going rocket, altered and tweeked to produce a track ready piece of mechanical insanity. Under the rear bonnet is one of the best engines to come out of Maranello, an 848 horsepower naturally aspirated V12 that’s assisted by the KERS derived 187 horsepower electric motor. Both engines working in harmony to produce 1086 horsepower and over 646 foot pounds of torque.
Ferrari will be letting the FXX K loose on the world mid year 2015 for the not unsubstantial price of $2.9million USD. Although you won’t be able to drive it home instead Ferrari will fly it and a support crew to your track of choice to play. And forget about racing it, the FXX K doesn’t comply with any racing standards so it’s an exclusive test drive experience for those with an excess of wealth and a need for speed.
