Stay in school kids, please for god’s sake stay in school lest landmines tare you asunder. As proven by the latest Public Service Announcement ‘Set Yourself Free’ we can never be too safe, the bubble wrap can never be too deep.
Public service announcements have a tradition of highlighting the dangers of questionable behaviour. This week’s PSA takes a simple message such as stay in school and launches the consequences into the stratosphere.
Presented for your viewing pleasure is the most disturbing public service announcement since Mike Tyson said don’t do drugs. Sit back, relax and make sure you don’t slack off or its kaboom time.
This is what happens when you slack off, stay in school. A message reminiscent of a dad statement from most childhoods, when I was a lad we had to stay in school or got blown up, that kind of thing.
There does seem to be quite a mystery brewing around the video, half of all mainstream media outlets seem to believe this is a real public service announcement, an ad produced on behalf of the Learn for Life Foundation of Western Australia. While the other half of the mainstream media see the video for what it is, one twisted yet amusing parody video.
The public service announcement is of course a parody video written and directed by comedy duo Henry Inglis and Aaron McCann of advertising agency Henry & Aaron. The comedy duo has a history of producing extreme WTF moment video’s, if you need a viral video these are the lads to see.
The videos ultimate goal however is to generate publicity for their advertising agency, at task they achieved with aplomb. Poking fun at the bubble wrapped world that we now live in never grows old, especially when high explosives are involved.
