In a sign that the great art of the dumb criminal is alive and well a thief in New York has stolen his way to internet stardom by transmitting his life through a pair of ill gotten Google Glasses.
This tale of one GlassHole’s road to fame begins with Google Glass Explorer Mike Geller taking his new all seeing toy on a road to New York. A great day of sightseeing and recording was well underway when Mike stopped for a break in Bryant Park.
(Jump to the 2 minute mark in the video for the GlassHole incident)
“Are those Google Glass?” he asked. “Can I try them? Can I try them real quick?” he pestered. Yep Geller fell for the oldest trick in the book, the old can I try them on for just a minute ploy. Here at Highpants we reckon Geller knew he was in trouble the moment the glasses left his hand, he definitely knew as the thief ran off down the street.
At the time of the robbery Mike had his pair of Glass running LiveLens that broadcasts everything Glass sees. The life of crime being broadcast didn’t seem as glamorous as the movies might suggest, buying beer and crashing a rave, meh.
There has been no further information regarding the arrest of the GlassHole thief but you can bet that Google could track him down, if need be. Theoretically the MyGlass app should let authorities trace the criminal mastermind. Still Geller might make his money back posting the ongoing life of meh on YouTube.
