Samsung and Google’s latest lovechild, the Nexus 10 is a tablet so sleek the iPad is said to have a crush on it. Pictures and a video of the latest Nexus tablet have appeared via website BriefMobile, setting the tech world abuzz.
This may also be partially due to Google postponing the October 29 launch event thanks in no small part to hurricane Sandy. With no new date yet announced for the official event we will have to make do with these little morsels of news till the official event.
The Nexus 10 is set to become the new benchmark for 10 inch tablets, a sock lifter. The sort of tablet that makes everyone else try harder, lift up their socks.
The shiny new tablets specifications have firmed up, with the potent new 1.7Ghz Exynos 5250 dual-core CPU and Mali-T604 GPU, 2GB of system DRAM, and 16GB of storage. While the new silicon is only a dual core it is using the latest Cortex A15 cores, allowing this dual core to beat the Snapdragon S4 Pro quad core and Apples A6 in many tests.
Connectivity is well covered with the usual WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 chips. Being forward thinking Google have also included NFC. Connectivity will be even more essential as Google pushes users towards the cloud for storage and Google Play.
Devices that use the screen as both input and display have in many ways made the display the most important aspect. The Nexus 10 is said to push the display technology boundaries with a sumptuous display capable of 2560 x 1600 resolution, or 298.9 pixels per inch, thrashing the iPad’s paltry 263.9 pixels per inch.
The operating system will be the brand new, hot off the press Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. There seems to be more curve to the Nexus 10 than the Nexus 7, with a fairly thick bezel and black case ensures it still looks like a Nexus family member while still looking new.
Pricing rumors are suggesting Google will price the tablet at the $499 price point. The Nexus 10 appears to be ready to go, it has shaped up nicely, now all we need is natures co-operation. To all of those individuals stuck in Sandy’s windy grip we send best wishes, stay safe and let’s hope your socks dry out soon.
